Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about our point-of-sale rolls and packaging.

How do I size a POS roll?

Below we show you how to measure a POS roll the right way.

How many rolls come per box?

These are the standard quantities per box, depending on the roll size.

Standard quantities per box
Roll size Equivalent Rolls per box
57 mm × 60 mm 2 1/4" × 2 3/8" 100 Rolls
76 mm × 70 mm 3" × 2 3/4" 50 Rolls
80 mm × 70 mm 3 1/8" × 2 3/4" 50 Rolls

What is the basis weight and length of jumbo reels?

What is the basis weight and length of jumbo reels?
Basis weight (gsm) Length

48 12,000 m
55 12,000 m
58 12,000 m
72 10,000 m

Basis weight has a ±5% tolerance.

What widths do the jumbo reels come in?

Every reel is built on a 3" (76 mm) diameter core.

What is the printable area on a POS roll?

To determine the artwork size allowed on a printed roll, subtract 5 mm from each side of the paper width and leave that margin print-free, as shown in the examples.

What is the printable area on a POS roll?
Roll width Printable width
79 mm 69 mm
75 mm 65 mm
56 mm 46 mm

The diagram below shows a printing example for a POS roll:

79 mm × 595.5 mm

How is basis weight used?

A paper's basis weight is the weight of one square meter of that paper, measured in g/m².

Illustration of how basis weight is calculated on a paper roll
  • Converting roll width to meters:

    80 mm = 0.08 m

  • Area formula = L × W = 60 m × 0.08 m = 4.8 m²

    Paper basis weight: 48 g/m²

  • Roll weight in grams:

    Basis weight (g/m²) × roll m² = 48 g/m² × 4.8 m² = 230.4 g

What is the difference between thickness and caliper?

It's the perpendicular distance between the two sides of a sheet of paper. Two papers with the same basis weight don't necessarily have the same thickness.

It's measured in microns (metric system) or thousandths of an inch (imperial system).

What is the difference between thickness and caliper?
Thousandths (in) Microns
2.0 50.8
2.3 58.4
2.5 63.5
